Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2017 International ProStar, LoneStar, 9900i, and TranStar trucks. The affected vehicles have a metallic battery cover latch that may unlatch and contact the battery jump start stud, causing an electrical short to ground if the jump start stud is not covered.

CONSEQUENCE:

An electrical short to ground increases the risk of a fire in these trucks.

REMEDY:

Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will install a latch stop to prevent the latch from rotating to the unlatched position, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 17, 2017. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar’s number for this recall is 16513.

NOTES:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
